ADA Accessible Thresholds Information |

About ADA Accessible Threshold, Inc. It is an interesting story as to how the EZ Over Threshold came into existence. The Inventor, Walter Kline, has a Son who is confined to a wheelchair and had problems getting over certain thresholds. Walter, whose background is in the window and door industry was not able to find a product to solve his Son's problem so he invented the EZ Over Threshold. Initially, he invested his own capital incorporating ADA Accessible Threshold, Inc and further developing his Invention. Background In Florida and other coastal communities, events such as severe thunderstorms, hurricanes, and flooding are a common threat. Because of such weather, the local building codes often specify a taller than normal threshold to seal the sliding door from leaks. For example, the Miami-Dade building code establishes a water penetration requirement that necessitates a threshold height of up to 4 inches, making it impossible for a wheelchair to clear. Additionally, this high threshold creates a "Trip Hazard" that causes many people to fall, sometimes resulting in serious injury.
